Just another Edublogs.org weblog

What part can computers play to motivate students to learn?  Although enhanced student learning and the ability to extend students knowledge is an important reason to use ICT’s in the classroom is necessary is there a less meaninful way however still valid reason to use computers not only in the classroom but for students homework.  My son Matt is 9 and in year 4 and every since he was in year 2 and the teach told me “he needs to be brought down to everyone elses level” he has prettymuch lost his love of school.  But this has changed this year with a new teacher, providing interest based themes within the classroom for all Key Learning Areas.

However the main change I have seen is his willingness to complete his homework.  The teacher allows them to do their homework on the computer and email to her or take in a usb to hand it in.  The enthusiasm he now shows to this and the change in his attitude is amazing.  Even though it is just homeword and probably not class as a creative use of technologies it still has an impact and I believe has enhanced his learning!!!
